About Brian
My first saxophone was a Yamaha YAS-23 my parents bought me in 5th grade. I kept it for nearly 25 years, and it’s the horn I taught myself to repair on, which started my love for saxophone repair and restoration. Eventually it was time to pass it on to a young player who could enjoy it the way I did.
Most sellers tell me the same thing: “I don’t really want to sell it, but it needs to be played.” When I restore a vintage horn, I often send the original owner the “after” pictures so they know it was well cared for.
